The 2019 Winter Fancy Food Show begins today in San Francisco and will run through Tuesday, January 15.
The Show kicks off this morning at 8 a.m. with Start Right, Grow Strong: Nine Critical Steps, a session for food makers with speaker John Roberts of Blackpoint Management Inc. This and other maker sessions require a maker pass. The Buyer Speak Up will take place at 8:30 a.m. in room 216.
The Show’s Exhibit Hall will open at 10 a.m. and the Esplanade level, featuring Incubator Village, New Brands on the Shelf, and the What’s New, What’s Hot! Showcase, will open early at 9:30 a.m. The Show’s ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 9:45 a.m.
A new show attraction, What’s Next in Food, presented in partnership with Seeds&Chips and Alpha Food Labs, will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the South Building, Level 2, Room 202. What’s Next in Food will focus on innovations and ideas that will shape our food system over the next 25 years and explore sustainable food solutions from farm to fork.
Another show feature will also debut. Taste It Live!, which offers buyers and press a way to taste and learn about new products, will take place today from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., in North Hall, booth 6188.
The maker session, Price it Right: Using Costs to Create Real-World Price Sheets with Jonathan Milo Leal of Milo’s Whole World, begins at 9:45 a.m.
The Research Roundtable: Fresh Trends From the State of the Specialty Food Industry is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on the main stage in South Building, Level 2. Speakers include moderator David Lockwood, Mintel; Beth Haley, DPI Specialty Foods; and Cheryl Pick Sommer, Kaune’s Neighborhood Market. All attendee and exhibitor badge holders are welcome to attend.
At 12:30 p.m. Jonathan Milo Leal of Milo’s Whole World will lead the maker session Co-Packing: Things to Know.
Four industry stakeholders will discuss innovative food and product development during “What’s the Big Idea?” 4 Talks on Food, taking place at 1:30 p.m. They are Nick Mendoza, OneForNeptune; Minh Tsai, Hodo Soy, Sophie Egan, the Culinary Institute of America, and Mohammad Modarres, Interfaith Ventures.
The SFA Membership Meeting and Leadership Award Ceremony will begin at 5 p.m. in South Building, Level 2. The Membership Meeting will include an overview of the SFA’s strategic direction and important announcements. Immediately following will be the ceremony to honor the SFA’s 7th Annual Leadership Award winners. A reception will follow.
