Blue Bell Supplier Claims Listeria Contamination Not From Its Product

Blue Bell Creameries’ supplier Aspen Hills claims its cookie dough product that was used to make Blue Bell’s recalled ice cream tested negative for listeria before it was shipped to Blue Bell and that the “positive listeria results were obtained by Blue Bell only after our product had been in their control for almost two months.”

However, Blue Bell said the cookie dough it tested from Aspen Hills was in unopened boxes, and testing was done both by Blue Bell and an outside lab, confirming the presence of listeria. The Texas Department of State Health Services also conducted follow-up tests, finding the products positive for listeria, reports CBS News. Full Story
