Purdy Organics Shows Promise, Growth with Organic Pickles

Sis LaVigne works side by side with her daughter, Tracy, as they handcraft and personally fill each and every jar with a variety of pickled vegetables that are sold under the label Purdy Organics. LaVigne started the business with a partner in April 2011 that was then called Purdy Pickles. The partnership eventually dissolved and LaVigne then partnered with her daughter. They began selling the products at farmers markets in July 2011 and business took off. Jars began being sold at Harbor Greens and Pattersons in Gig Harbor, the Tacoma Food Co-op and online at Amazon.com, PurdyOrganics.com and through the company’s Facebook page. LaVigne also made connections with PCC Natural Markets, a chain of organic food stores in the Seattle area, as well as Whole Foods, reports Kitsap Sun. Full Story
